Haiti
The Haitian flag has long been a symbol of pride for Haiti. It has the Haiti coat of arms on it and the colors red and blue. It was made from the French flag. Haitian Flag Day on Monday, May 18, is all about celebrating the culture and heritage of the Haitian flag, where people dance, sing, and eat. Haitian Flag Day events took place not just in Haiti, but in U.S. cities as well. The Haitian flag as it’s known today first came into use in 1806. The story behind the flag’s red-and-blue backdrop is that Jean-Jacques Dessalines, a leader in the Haitian Revolution against France, removed the white in the French flag to symbolize their newly-found independence.
Haiti
Many tropical fruits are grown in Haiti becuase of its tropical climate, such as avocados, mangoes, pineapples, coconuts, cerise, passion fruit, and guava. Refreshing fruit juices are a very popular way to use these delicious resources. Another popular beverage is Juna, a local orange squash drink. People are often selling drinks of shaved ice topped with a fruity syrup, too. Jeven sugarcane juice is also common. Both adults and children enjoy chewing on the stalks to extract its sweet juice.
Beer
Belgium has what is considered by some the best beer in the world. Belgium has several hundred breweries in such a small country. This gives Belgium a wide diversity of flavor and tastes. At the end of 2011 there were 1150 original Belgium beers.
The History of Madagascar - Zoya Fazal
Histoire le Madagascar
In a cataclysmic earthquake, Madagascar floated away from Africa about 165 million years ago. It drifted approximately 250 miles to the northeast, where it currently resides.
How the French Revolution affected Madagascar
In 1883, the French attacked Madagascar. After almost three years of warfare, Madagascar became a French protectorate, and then, after a massive 1895 invasion by French forces, Madagascar became a full-fledged French colony. The monarchy was abolished, and French became the official language.
In 1958, Charles de Gaulle became the President of France. He immediately granted Madagascar their independence. But the French culture still remains. French is still one of the official languages of Madagascar.

Democratic Republic of the Congo- Politics
The DROC is what is known as a republic. It is also unitary, which means one government controls everything instead of smaller, local governments like the United States has. Most countries in Europe are unitary governments. It is also Semi-Presidential, which means there is a president, a cabinet (like the US Senate), and a prime minister.

French Soccer
France is a wonderful nation. The national sport of France is soccer. The nickname for the team is "The Blues" because of their home kit jersey color. They won one World Cup in 1998 and eight European Championships. They primarily play in Stade de France which is in a suburb of Paris called Saint-Denis. The French national team is known for how ethnically diverse it is and how ethnically diverse the country is. Luxembourg Food
One of the most traditional dishes is Judd mat Gaardebounen. It's a smoked collar of a pig with broad beans. People who own restaurants in Luxembourg make sure to have it fresh everyday. They soak the collar of the pig in water. It is then boiled with different vegetables and spices. Usually it is served with boiled potatoes and a side of rice. It is the national dish of Luxembourg. Another traditional dish is Träipen. It is a blood fried sausage usually served with apple sauce and écrevisses à la luxembourgeoise (cray fish).

Luxembourg's History
Luxembourg was founded in 963. During the 1300s-early 1500s three members of the House of Luxembourg reigned as Holy Roman Emperors. Luxembourg then suffered a succession crisis when they were missing a male heir. The country was then sold to Philip the Good of Burgundy, and was then occupied by the Hapburgs, Bourbons and the French. When Napoleon was defeated, Luxembourg was argued over by Prussia and the Netherlands, and the German Confederation named Luxembourg a Grand Duchy in union with the Netherlands. Luxembourg was neutral through both world wars, but was invaded in 1914 by Imperial Germany. They were occupied by Germany during the First World War, but maintained independence and freedom. Luxembourg's neutrality was again violated in the Second World War when Nazi Germany invaded. Germany considered Luxembourg to be German territory. Luxembourg wa annexed in 1944 and then helped found the United Nations

Morocco - Capital
Rabat is the capital of Morroco. Situated at the mouth of the Bou Regreg river, it is a coastal town that has historically been an important port. Nowadays, because of problems with silt, its role as a port has diminished, and most of its income come from tourism, textile, food processing, and construction industries. Compared to other Moroccan cities, it has a relatively recent history, becoming a military fortress of importance in 1146 CE. In fact, its name, Rabat, is derived from the phrase, Ribatu I-Fath, meaning "stronghold of victory." Common tourist sites here include Kasbah of the Udayas and the Hassan tower, both built during this time period. Other points of interest in this city include the Mawazine, a famous music festival, and the Bouregreg Marina.

Food
Haiti's national dish is griots with rice & beans. Griots are pieces of fried pork. The traditional recipe has a unique taste because of one specific ingredient: sour orange juice.
