Haiti

Food

Haiti's national dish is griots with rice & beans.  Griots are pieces of fried pork.  The traditional recipe has a unique taste because of one specific ingredient: sour orange juice.  While this is the most popular and well-known dish of Haiti, there are still some others.  One example is Legim, a thick vegetable soup containing eggplant, chayote, cabbage, spinach, watercress, épice, onions, garlic, tomato paste, and beef or crab that is usually served with rice.  Most Haitian meals have rice and beans with them and are most commonly described as bold and spicy.
