Ivory Coast's Two Capitals
The Ivory Coast is one of fifteen countries out of 196 (195 if you exclude Taiwan) that has two capitals. Yamoussoukro is the administrative and political capital, while also serving as fourth largest city in the country. As of 2014 the population of Yamoussoukro is 355,573 people. The city is also said to be the largest place of Christian Worship. Abidjan serves as the economic capital and is listed as official capital of the country in most guidebooks. It is also the most prominent French speaking country in all of West Africa. It has a population of 4,707,404 which is 20% of the entire country.
Belgium the liberal country
Belgium is a very open minded country and this can be seen in sevral of their laws. Some great examples are that Belgium has legalised euthanasia in 2002, and gay marriage in 2003. Belgium also became the world's first country to ban cluster bombs, and second to ban forced marriages. Belgium is the country with the highest proportion of female ministers in the world (55% in 2000) and one of the earliest to have a female parliamentarian (in 1921), and Belgium is the country that grants the most new citizenships per capita in the world after Canada. As you can see Belgium is a very liberal place, but all these traits are severely checked by the amount of taxes a person pays. You pay, on average, more than 40 percent of your gross income in taxes.
Côte Divoire Taï National Park (continued)
Animal:
An example of a rare animal living in the park is the pangolin. In my opinion, it looks half badger, half crocodile. It is nocturnal and eats ants and termites. Before the pangolin swims, it fills its stomach for extra buoyancy. Also, it uses its prehensile tail to climb trees. The pangolin uses lots of different useful techniques to survive.
Plant:
An example of a rare plant is the Amophorphallus staudtii also known as the Titan arum or corpse flower. It is called the corpse flower, because it emits a rotten meat smell to attract bugs for pollination. It grows in tropical areas (the tropical area of the national park). The biggest one is 2.5 meters tall and currently the largest flower in the world. (It's an inflorescence.)
Haiti
Citadelle Laferrière is a huge fortress at the top of a medium-sized mountain near the town of Milot, Haiti. The walls are 130 feet high, surrounding the 108,000 square feet that make it the one of the largest fortresses in the world. The Citadelle Laferrière was built by Henri Christophe, a leader of the Haitian slave rebellion at the beginning of the 19th century. It has become a major symbol of Hati and is used on stamps and money. The fortress houses storehouses that are designed to store enough food and water for 5,000 defenders for up to one year. The fortress also has rooms for the king and his family, dungeons, bathrooms and ovens used in bakeries.
